A 95-year-old military veteran found himself without a place to stay when his nursing home accommodation was given to an illegal immigrant
The Korean war veteran was asked to vacate the room, as he was told that an illegal alien needed to stay in a nursing home room at Island Shores Senior Residence.
“The thing I’m annoyed about is how they did it, it was very disgraceful what they did to the people in Island Shores,” Tammaro stated. “Then one day there was a notice on the board. I think that gave us a month and a half to find out where we were going to go,” he said. “I thought my suitcases were going to be on the curb because I’m not that fast.”
“If it wasn’t for my daughter, they would’ve been on the curb. That was it. I said, ‘No, no, no, no, you’re not moving me,’ and they said, ‘Yes, yes, yes we are.’ Everything was done behind closed doors – we didn’t have a chance to actually make any attempt to stop them because there wasn’t enough time,” he continued.
A nursing home where he was a resident was sold to make way for a facility for unauthorized migrants, and the 95-year-old Korean War veteran claimed he was given less than two months’ notice to find a new place to live.
Veteran Frank Tammaro joined Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., an outspoken critic of New York City’s handling of the migrant issue, to address the rumored deal at a press conference on Monday.

Although Tammaro claimed he attempted to dispute the decision to evict residents, he claimed that Island Shores “gave us time to get out,” but not enough time.
The Department of Social Services of New York City informed Councilman David Carr that the migrant facility would open there this week, and Carr verified this to a local media outlet called SI Live.
Fox News Digital requested clarification from the Department of Social Services on Tuesday, but did not receive a response right away.
An attempt by Fox News Digital to get in touch with an Island Shores Senior Residence phone number was unsuccessful. On the internet, the facility is marked as “permanently closed”.
The alleged deal, according to Malliotakis, “shows our country and our city’s priorities are backwards.”
