A hotel guest in Boston was left horrified after federal agents wrongly barged into his room during training.
According to the reports, the Boston hotel guest was asleep when federal agents barged into his room, handcuffed and threw him into the shower before interrogating him for an hour.
However, after an hour of interrogation, leaving the guest horrified, the agents realized that they had entered the wrong room.
In an exclusive report published by local CBS affiliate station WBZ, the FBI and Department of Defense agents busted into an innocent man’s room at the Revere Hotel instead of the correct room where a person role-playing as a suspect was waiting as part of a training exercise.
The report revealed that the man was sleeping inside Room 1505 when the agents banged on the door at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night and demanded to be let in.
The authorities then went on and interrogated the man who claims to be in his 30s, for nearly an hour until they realized they had the wrong guy.
The innocent man was later identified as a Delta Air Lines pilot.
According to WBZ, after the federal agents found they busted into the wrong room, they immediately uncuffed the man and apologized after about 45 minutes of intense interrogation.
Amid the controversy, the FBI released an official statement, explaining the incident.
The department said that the agents with the FBI Boston division were assisting the Department of Defense as the latter conducted a training exercise at the hotel “to simulate a situation their personnel might encounter in a deployed environment.”
“Based on inaccurate information, they were mistakenly sent to the wrong room and detained an individual, not the intended role player. Thankfully nobody was injured,” the statement continued.
In the police report, after the agents realized they got the wrong person, the hotel security was immediately notified and the police and EMS were called to the scene. However, the pilot refused medical attention.
Meanwhile, the pilot declined to comment on the incident and explained that he needed to speak to his employer first before speaking to the media.
In a statement, Delta said that it was “looking into reports of an alleged incident in Boston that may involve Delta people.”
Furthermore, the FBI Boston Division is also reviewing the shocking case of mistaken identity with the DOD “for further action as deemed appropriate.”
