All-Ages Drag Queen Show Shutdown After Concerning Undercover Video

A venue in Texas will no longer host an “all-ages” drag show after undercover journalists published a concerning video from a recent event.

On March 28, conservative journalist Tayler Hansen posted a video showing a drag show involving children at the live music venue Tulips in Dallas-Fort Worth.

“Yesterday an ‘All Ages’ Drag Show was hosted at Tulips [Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas]. During the show, a drag queen sat with his legs open and exposed his crotch to children in the crowd,” Hansen captioned his post.

“Children were being encouraged by parents to hand money to the Drag Queens and wave Trans flags around. Sara Gonzales was denied entry and ID’d at the door to prevent her from exposing what was going on,” he added.

Fellow conservative media personality Sara Gonzales attempted to enter the venue, but was recognized and turned away at the front door.

“Upon arrival, security denied me entry at the doors and told me they had been given my name and picture by the venue and were instructed not to allow me to enter,” Gonzales told TheBlaze. “What they didn’t know was that I had a team of citizen journalists spread throughout the entire venue getting footage of the performers dancing for and receiving tips from children.”

Following the release of the video, she announced that Tulips will no longer host any “all ages” drag shows.

“VICTORY!! Tulips confirmed with us that they will NO LONGER host ‘all ages’ drag shows at their venue. Their landlord saw our coverage and said ABSOLUTELY NOT,” Gonzales tweeted.

This comes as Republican lawmakers continue to crack down on drag shows in an effort to repress LGBTQ+ rights in the country.

Legislators in at least eight states have reportedly introduced legislation aiming to restrict or censor the shows. A total of 14 bills have been introduced across Arizona, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.

The introduction of anti-drag legislation follows an uptick in political discourse over drag performances and drag queen story times in public libraries, as well as an increasing number of recent demonstrations or disruptions of drag events.

The majority of the proposed legislation defines a drag performer as someone who engages in performance while dressing, applying makeup, and acting in ways that are not consistent with the gender given to them at birth.
