Former President Donald Trump has received yet another significant support from a leading Republican.
Lee Zeldin, a former New York congressman, openly declared his support for Trump’s 2024 presidential bid announced on Twitter on Monday.
“The GOP is filled with amazing talent to save our country from the failed policies of the Biden Admin. Our nominee in 2024 will be the 45th & 47th POTUS, Donald Trump. Our economy will be stronger, our streets will be safer, & our lives will be freer. He has my full support!” Zeldin tweeted.
The “Make America Great Again” political action committee of 76-year-old Trump promptly acknowledged the announcement.
Zeldin’s support for Trump’s conceivable 2024 run adds to the increasing list of prominent Republicans who have decided to do the same. Right now, Trump is certainly favored to become the Republican nominee.

His support is noteworthy because he previously appeared alongside Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) as part of DeSantis’ book tour in April, and he was anticipated to support the governor once he joins the 2024 campaign.
According to poll results, the next closest candidate to Trump is DeSantis, who has not yet declared whether or not he will run.
Zeldin was initially elected to the US House of Representatives in 2014 and has since received multiple re-elections. He was a lawyer and has also served in the US Army Reserve before entering politics.
After narrowly losing to Hochul in the deeply blue Empire State by five points, the ex-congressman has become one of the most powerful Republicans in New York.
Zeldin supporting Trump, a native of New York who spent his entire life in the Big Apple before officially moving to Florida in 2019, is an indication that Trump will be a tough opponent in his home state’s GOP primary.
Moreover, it was also confirmed last week that former Miami mayor and current GOP congressman Carlos Gimenez will give his support to Trump. Gimenez believes that Trump “gives us the best chance of winning.”
Gimenez justified his support for Trump by pointing to both his successful record as president and his compelling vision for the country’s future.
