The mainstream media just outright admitted that it refuses to cover former President Donald Trump’s arraignment out of fear that it might help his re-election campaign.
Among the liberal newscasters who just bluntly declared that they would censor Trump is MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who said that “there is a cost to us as a news organization to knowingly broadcast untrue things.”

“I need to say that former President Trump has just started making public remarks, just as he did on the evening of his first arraignment on criminal charges,” Maddow said. “Now tonight, after his arraignment on federal felony charges, he’s speaking again, this time to an audience of his supporters that’s gathered for a campaign fundraiser tonight at his Golf Club and summer home in New Jersey.”
“We knew heading into this that he was planning to make these remarks. We are prepared for his pre-fundraiser remarks tonight to again be essentially a [suddenly looks nauseous] Trump campaign speech. Because of that, we do not intend to carry these remarks live,” she declared.
Fellow leftist journalist Jake Tapper of CNN also expressed his frustration over his network’s coverage of the former president.
“To the folks in the control room, I don’t need to see any more of that. He’s trying to turn it into a spectacle, into a campaign ad. That is enough of that. We’ve seen it already. Ah, let’s go over again the 37 charges that Donald Trump is facing,” Tapper said. “Now remember — he was just charged with 37 counts.”
This shows that the mainstream media is threatened by Trump and is an outright acknowledgement that he is the frontrunner for the Republican presidential candidacy in 2024.
As for his arraignment, the former president invoked the Presidential Records Act and drew comparisons between his treatment and that of President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and even former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger.
Regardless of everyone’s opinion of Trump, it should be fair for the mainstream media to cover his defense. This sets a dangerous precedent for the media, which is tasked with reporting on all the facts, now that they choose to focus on only a few that support their political agenda.
