Pelosi Wants to Violate Constitution By Placing Term Limits on The Supreme Court but Not Congress

Former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just introduced a radical idea that would violate the constitution by suggesting that term limits be placed on Supreme Court justices.

During an interview on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” Pelosi said that there “certainly should be term limits” for the justices.

“Here we have a body … chosen for life. Never have to run for office. Nominated, confirmed for life, with no accountability for their ethics behavior,” she told host and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

Pelosi’s comments come after the Supreme Court overturned the controversial “Roe v. Wade” case a year ago.

Following the ruling, the country’s top court has come under fire, and new revelations regarding the financial disclosures of Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have prompted debate over the court’s ethics rules as the justices offer their opinions on divisive national matters.

“If nothing else, there should be some ethical rules that would be followed,” the former Democratic leader said.

Democrats have been outraged by Thomas because of his wife’s involvement in conservative politics and, most recently, a report from ProPublica that alleged the justice had accepted expensive gifts from a GOP mega-donor without disclosing them.

Thomas’ long-standing relationship with Crow reportedly gave him access to a number of benefits, including free stays on Crow’s vast vacation property and the opportunity to travel in style with the Texas millionaire on his yacht and private plane.

In response to the allegations, Thomas has since released a statement describing Harlan and Kathy Crow as “among our dearest friends.”

She continued on the MSNBC interview that it’s “shameful” how Thomas and Alito “have been so cavalier about their violations of what would be expected of a justice of the Supreme Court.”

Meanwhile, Pelosi was less definitive about a possible expansion of the court, but said it’s “a discussion.”

“It’s been over 150 years since we’ve had an expansion of the court. It was in the time of Lincoln that it went up to nine, so the subject of whether that should happen is a discussion — it’s not, say, a rallying cry, but it’s a discussion,” Pelosi said.
