Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is going after former First Lady Melania Trump in his case against former President Donald Trump.
According to reports, Bragg tried to go after Melania in a desperate attempt to convict the former president. Luckily, a New York judge stepped in and ruled in favor of Trump’s effort to block two subpoenas seeking emails sent by Melania.
“This request would yield significantly more responsive records than necessary,” Judge Juan Merchan wrote in his ruling.
Merchan added that prosecutors “have demonstrated that the request seeks items that are relevant and material” to the New York criminal case.
This comes as Bragg has been working hard in criminalizing Trump, from nonsense subpoenas to even issuing a gag order on the former president.
The DA recently requested to place restrictions on what information Trump can publicly reveal regarding new information gathered by the prosecution prior to the case going to trial.
“Donald J. Trump has a longstanding and perhaps singular history of attacking witnesses, investigators, prosecutors, trial jurors, grand jurors, judges, and others involved in legal proceedings against him, putting those individuals and their families at considerable safety risk,” Bragg’s office argued in a court filing. “Defendant has a constitutional right to speak publicly about this case, and the People do not seek to infringe upon that right.”
But the tides have turned on Bragg, as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) slammed him and his fellow liberal DAs for doing nothing to stop crime in some blue cities.
“Oakland residents are sick and tired of our intolerable public safety crisis that overwhelmingly impacts minority communities. Murders, shootings, violent armed robberies, home invasions, car break-ins, sideshows, and highway shootouts have become a pervasive fixture of life in Oakland,” the NAACP said in a statement.
“We call on all elected leaders to unite and declare a state of emergency and bring together massive resources to address our public safety crisis. African Americans are disproportionately hit the hardest by crime in East Oakland and other parts of the city. But residents from all parts of the city report that they do not feel safe,” the statement continued.
