Gauntlet Thrown: DeSantis Sends Hysterical Letter Inviting Kamala to Back up Her Offensive Claims

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis has invited Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss her claims about Florida’s new black history curriculum.

This comes after Harris heavily criticized the Sunshine State’s new curriculum, alleging that it wants to teach students that black people “benefited” from slavery.

“In the state of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery,” the vice president tweeted. “They insult us in an attempt to gaslight us, and we will not stand for it.”

DeSantis has then sent Harris a bizarre letter inviting her to back up her claims while also slipping in a few digs at the vice president.

“Florida is the number one state in the nation for education. We’ve achieved this by making record investments in our students, teachers, and schools and by enacting universal school choice,” the letter read. “Our approach has empowered parents and families, who are actively disenfranchised in many other states around the nation. But we’ve also secured the top spot nationally in education by returning to the fundamentals.”

“Yet, time and time again, D.C. politicians choose to malign our state and its residents. Over the past several weeks, the Biden administration has repeatedly disparaged our state and misinformed Americans about our education system,” the letter continued.

The Florida governor also mocked the fact that President Joe Biden put Harris in charge of the southern border in 2021, which has worsened since then.

“I am prepared to meet as early as Wednesday of this week, but of course want to be deferential to your busy schedule should you already have a trip to the southern border planned for that day. What an example we could set for the nation—a serious conversation on the substance of an important issue!” DeSantis concluded.

This comes as DeSantis is trailing behind former President Donald Trump in the polls. Most recently, DeSantis dismissed the poor polling and reiterated that he is still the best candidate to beat President Joe Biden.

“Of any Republican in the country, I have the best record of defeating the left. On issue after issue, and we’ll be making that case over the next six or seven months. I’m running to win in January and February. I’m not running to juice polling now,” he said in an interview recently.
