Hillary Clinton Expresses Concerns Over Republican Support for Trump’s Actions

In a recent appearance with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former secretary of state Hillary Clinton expressed her worries about the Republican Party’s support for former president Donald Trump and its perceived toleration of what she called “criminality.”

Clinton started off by lamenting what she sees as a worrying trend among the Republican Party. She expressed dissatisfaction in the direction the GOP has gone in recent years, saying, “It’s hard to imagine how much worse it’s gotten from what we thought was pretty much the bottom.”

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) received praise from Clinton for his forthright assessments of the Republican Party, using an unusual instance of bipartisanship to make her case.

“I really appreciate Senator Romney being so forthright and laying out his first-hand observations and understanding,” she said.

After eight years in the Senate, Clinton discussed her former colleagues, citing her original conviction that they “knew better” and would eventually reject what she perceived as the “criminality” of Trump and his supporters.

“You know, I was in the Senate for eight years. I served with a number of people who were there. I used to believe that they all knew better, that they went along with the criminality of Trump and his enablers for his own reasons, but at some point, they would call a halt,” she said regarding Republicans in the Senate.

Clinton urged action and fortitude through her worries, stating, “I don’t recognize these people. It is such a disservice to the country. We’ve got to fight back as best we can.”

“Yes, is there a lot to be worried about, discouraged by, disheartened over? Of course, there is,” she said further. “But, you know, roll up your sleeves, quit wringing your hands and figure out what you can do to try to help somebody and help make things better.”

Clinton has already criticized Trump and his ideas. The former first lady termed the charge “a terrible moment for our country” and expressed her “great profound sadness” just before news of his indictment in the Georgia 2020 election tampering case broke last month.

When asked how she felt about the changes in Trump’s legal situation, she responded that she didn’t feel satisfied other than with the way the system worked and the fact that all of Donald Trump’s efforts to conceal the truth and undermine democracy had failed and that justice was being pursued.
