Axelrod Suggests Biden Is Too Old To Reelect

David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, has proposed that President Biden should consider withdrawing from the presidential race.

This recommendation comes in light of recent polling data from The New York Times/Siena College, which shows President Joe Biden trailing behind former President Donald Trump.

Axelrod took to the platform X, previously known as Twitter, to express his viewpoint.

“it’s very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden’s team says his resolve to run is firm. He’s defied CW before, but this will send tremors of doubt thru the party – not ‘bed-wetting,’ but legitimate concern.” Axelrod said in a statement.

“Only @JoeBiden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?” he said on Twitter.

Axelrod stressed the importance of a Democratic victory, describing President Trump as a “dangerous, unhinged demagogue.”

The poll results reveal Biden’s trailing position in five out of six battleground states, all of which he had won in 2020. Wisconsin is the only state where Biden maintains a 2% lead.

This poll coincides with growing concerns among Democratic voters regarding President Biden’s age and policies, as reported by The Hill.

According to the poll, 71% of registered voters, to varying degrees, believe that Biden is “too old to be an effective president,” while only 39% hold a similar view about Trump.

When asked about Biden’s “mental sharpness to be an effective president,” 62% responded negatively, while 35% agreed. In contrast, 52% of respondents believe Trump possesses the mental sharpness required to be an effective president, with 44% expressing a differing opinion.

Axelrod identified Biden’s age as his “biggest liability” and emphasized that “Among all the unpredictable, there is one thing that is sure: the age arrow only points in one direction.”

These comments come in the wake of concerns from some Democrats who have raised doubts about Biden’s age, suggesting that it may disqualify him from seeking reelection next year.
