A Colorado teen was just arrested for conspiracy to join ISIS after it was discovered he gave support to the terrorist organization.
The FBI entertained a social media tip given to them and visited 16-year-old Humzah Mashkoor. Just a year later they arrested and charged him for conspiracy to join ISIS as he was boarding a flight from Denver to eventually reach Afghanistan.
The complaint says that Mashkoor openly supported ISIS and has shared videos of people getting executed online. The police investigated Humzah Mashkoor’s past and his plan to travel to join ISIS, revealing his support for the terrorist group.
“He indicated a desire to return to Afghanistan, where he has family in Nangarhar and other areas under Taliban control. Mashkoor stated that he previously supported the Taliban but started ‘looking more into’ ‘the dawlah’ after they ‘bombed the airport and took those Taliban and US soldiers and sent them to jahanam,’” the complaint says.
Mashkoor was openly communicating his support for ISIS to undercover FBI officers who were communicating with him through social media. During those interactions Mashkoor expressed that he’d do anything the terrorist organization asked him to do.
“I am prepared to do anything which they require me to do . . . I just want to be used as soon as possible, gun attacks… I have no training, I used to have some practice with guns when I was younger. But that is it,” Mashkoor allegedly said.
In October 2022, he allegedly took the oath to join ISIS. Mashkoor had planned out his support for the group, which included donating all his money to ISIS in the form of cryptocurrency before turning 18, traveling to join ISIS, and even marrying someone with the same beliefs.
He had originally postponed his travels until December 18th, which is when he was arrested.
