The US military announced that they are sending a space plane out for another secret mission that will take at least a couple of years to complete.
The military’s X-37B space plane left Thursday night from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. This space plane resembles a mini space shuttle and is completely uninhabited as it’s an automatic plane that has self-landing capabilities.
These types of space planes take off vertically just as a spaceship or rocket ship would, but they land horizontally resembling a plane landing. There are 2 X-37Bs at the Kennedy Space Center.
This is the X-37B’s seventh flight since it was just brought out in 2010. Just since then, it has already been 10 years in orbit serving the purpose of going on secret space missions.
There was no information provided regarding this mission other than its purpose to test the effects of radiation on materials.
Its most recent mission lasted 2.5 years but we don’t have a definite estimate on how long this mission will take. Regardless, the secret mission commenced on Thursday night after it left the NASA Kennedy Space Station for its secret journey.
