It seems that on December 19, Michael Shapiro, a 72-year-old from Florida, called a member of Congress five times from his office in Washington, D.C. He told them five times that he would “come and kill” their children in frightening texts.
It is said that Shapiro has done this before, and he even pleaded guilty to making threats against members of Congress in 2019, so this is clearly something that he does often.
On text messages, Shapiro was heard saying, “Hey mom, you awful person, you’re a Chinese spy.” “You mother *expletive*, I’m going to kill you *expletive*,” he said. After that, he sent another message that said, “I’m going to kill your kids.”
Although the name of the Congressman wasn’t made public right away, it has been said that the name of the representative is Eric Swalwell.
“There is no place in America for threats of political violence,” Eric Swalwell said after the event. We should always settle our disagreements at the polls. Even though I will keep my family and staff safe, these threats will never stop me from serving my people.
Swalwell then wrote on X, “MAGA Republicans have chosen violence over voting, and this is what it looks like.” “But I’m not leaving, and you shouldn’t either.”
It’s become common in the past few months and years to make death threats or other threats against people in Congress and other government leaders. Lawmakers in the past have dealt with death threats and even been involved in court cases because of them.
Records show that Shapiro went to court for the first time on Wednesday.
