Another important hospital in Gaza is the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Middle Area. However, both patients and workers have been asked to leave.
The hospital’s head said that many healthcare workers and about 600 patients had to leave the building because of the evacuation orders and the rising tensions. At this time, their whereabouts are not being made public.
The Al-Aqsa Hospital treats a lot of hurt people every day, even though they are only working with 30% of their staff and have more patients than before. The UN and the World Health Organization both said that the hospital and the areas around it were in chaos because “heavy Israeli bombardment from air, land, and sea intensified across much of the Gaza Strip.”
“The scene is really a mess.” “The hospital director just talked to us, and all he wants is for this hospital to be safe, even though a lot of his staff has left,” Casey, a WHO official, said. He also said that the hospital is getting new patients every few minutes and that there are only five doctors left to care for all of them.
“Right now, this hospital only has about 30% of the staff that it did just a few days ago.” Some days, they see hundreds of injured people every day in a small emergency room, Casey said.
Casey went on to say that he and his team had brought some supplies to the hospital and that WHO is thinking about sending emergency workers to Al-Aqsa. Along with Al-Aqsa, there aren’t any other hospitals in Northern Gaza that are still open.
People who bring medical tools are being told to leave. Both the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) said that their emergency medical teams had to leave the hospital because the Israeli military was going to be there more.
Israel is not stopping the bloodshed in Gaza, even though hospitals are full to the brim. They are still targeting both hospitals and residential areas. Israeli strikes have killed at least 22,800 people since October 7. Nine thousand of them were children.
