Late Sunday night, there was news of a drone attack in Syria that hit a military base where US troops were living.
The attack used a drone to hit the al-Omar training camp, which was in Syria close to Deir el-Zour. The attack happened where US troops were training, but no US soldiers were hurt or killed.
These are the first strikes on Syria or Iraq since the US attacked militias backed by Iran over the weekend. After looking into the attack, it’s thought to have been done by a group backed by Iran, but this hasn’t been proven yet. The Islamic Resistance said they were behind the attack, and a film showed the Iran-backed Iraqi militia launching the drone strike.
It is said that the US launched “self-defense” attacks against the Houthi forces over the weekend. Along with their main attack on the Houthi forces, they also hit four different ships. The US and UK also started a group of strikes that hit 36 Houthi targets.
A spokesman for the Houthis, Mohammed al-Buhkaiti, said, “The fact that the US and UK are bombing several provinces in Yemen will not change our position. We are adamant that our military operations against Israel will continue until the crimes of genocide in Gaza stop and the siege on its residents is lifted, no matter what it costs us.”
This group has said that their goal is to get US troops out of the Middle East, and they plan to keep their word and not give up until this is done. These people said the attacks have not worked and that there needs to be a “regional war” to “end U.S. presence in the region.”
In order to get US troops to leave Syria and Iraq, the group has launched dozens of strikes on those troops.
