A ceasefire has been talked about, but neither side has come to an understanding that lets them set the terms of the ceasefire. Israel has said it will attack on the ground in Rafah, a city where 2.3 million people are hiding near Egypt. American officials have said that they want to reach a peace deal before this attack happens.

Israel didn’t say much about the recent strikes; all they said was that they were meant to protect civilians. However, they say that Hamas terrorists have been hiding in places where civilians are, like school shelters and hospitals. Hamas says this is not true and that they are not hiding among them.
The US is one of Israel’s most important allies. The US supports Israel’s efforts, but they have said that Israel should tone down the violence and only fight Hamas leaders.
Biden told the crowd, “I’m working very hard to get this hostage ceasefire done.” A lot of harmless people are dying or going hungry, and it needs to stop.
According to Gaza’s health ministry, almost 28,000 Palestinians have died in the war. Many more are likely still buried under the attacks’ debris. Over 67,000 people have been hurt in the fighting as well.
