Iran is said to have committed “crimes against humanity”

The UN says Iran is accused of crimes against their own people, especially against women and girls.

A UN mission that looked into the crimes committed against protesters, especially women and girls, that led to injuries and violence was released in a report. They are charged with a wide range of crimes against women who were fighting for human rights, including rape, abuse, murder, and being locked up.

According to The Human Rights Watch, more than 500 people have been killed during riots. Of these, 68 were children. Also at that time, more than 20,000 protesters were taken into custody. Concerning the protests and the repression of basic rights that went along with them, the FFM said that the government of Iran “committed a series of extensive, sustained, and continuing acts that individually constitute human rights violations directed against women, girls, and persons expressing support for gender equality and the rights of women and girls and, cumulatively, constitute what the mission considers to be gender persecution “

Another thing the FFM said was that there was proof that some of the people who were arrested had raped, electrocuted, or sexually assaulted someone. They also said that people in the LGBTQ group had been hurt and that there was proof of torture.

The FFM has tried to get the Iranian government to help with the investigation, but the Iranian government has done everything it can to avoid being searched. In a report to the UN due at the end of March, the FFM should share what it found.

Sara Hossain, Chair of FFM, said, “These actions are part of a bigger, more planned attack on the civilian population in Iran, specifically on women, girls, boys, and men who have called for freedom, equality, respect, and accountability.”

Another new rule that the Iranian government has put in place is that women and girls must wear the hijab. “The government of Iran is terrorizing women and girls by constantly watching and arresting them, which messes up their daily lives and causes them a lot of mental stress,” said Diana Eltahawy, Amnesty International’s deputy for the Middle East and North America.
