The best labor lawyer in the U.S. is not going to give in to Starbucks, Amazon, or SpaceX

The best labor lawyer in the US says that her office will not give in to Amazon, Starbucks, and SpaceX’s efforts to challenge the National Labor Relations Board.

Jennifer Abruzzo has said that U.S. companies are “jumping on the bandwagon” when it comes to court challenges to companies that allow workers to form unions. Law firms that work for companies like SpaceX, Amazon, Starbucks, and Trader Joe’s have all said that the National Labor Relations Board is “unconstitutional” and going too far.

But Abruzzo replied, “There is no way that we’re going to give in to the pressures that are put on us to deal with these challenges and defend the constitutionality of our agency structure, even though we have very few resources and board agents are very busy with a lot of cases.”

Abruzzo said that they are being attacked and avoided because they pointed out that SpaceX fired eight workers who spoke out about problems at work. After that, Abruzzo said that other businesses, like Amazon and Starbucks, did the same thing.

SpaceX actually made a complaint against the National Labor Group because they said that the company fired these workers because of a message they wrote about problems at work.

The judicial battle in this case could make union contract talks even more difficult than they already are because of the big companies.

Abruzzo also said, “Unfortunately, it seems to me that they’d rather spend their money going to court than making things better for their workers and the way they run their business.”

She went on to say that the companies seem to be trying to avoid doing anything wrong so that they don’t have to answer for breaking the law.
