United Airlines said they could add more planes and new routes because the Federal Aviation Administration gave them permission to do so. Regulators looked closely at the airplane company after they broke safety rules several times, but they are now back in business after the violations.
“Today, we got some good news: after a careful review and discussion about the proactive safety steps United has taken to date, our FAA Certificate Management Office has allowed us to begin the process of restarting our certification activities, including new aircraft and routes. We will continue to work closely with the FAA,” United Airlines wrote to its employees.
They said that they stopped making any new planes or routes because the FAA was looking more closely. However, they also said that United Airlines needs to do more to make sure future safety.
“The FAA will continue to be a part of our business as they look over our procedures, manuals, and facilities,” the FAA said.
After some time, the Federal Aviation Administration said they hadn’t approved any plans to add more lines or planes. They said that the review is “ongoing” and that the completion date will depend on safety.
Not just United Airlines has been having safety problems. Many airlines have too. Boeing has been having a lot of problems lately, which has caused delays, airline breaks, and cancellations. Things went wrong with older jets, but there were still worries because they happened so recently and so often.
