Border patrol agents’ clash with leadership spearheaded by U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz was caught on a video last Friday during the visit of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The video shared with Fox News from a border patrol source confirmed that the border patrol’s morale is at its lowest during Ortiz’s dialogue with his border patrol agents with Mayorkas in the venue.
“I do think that we’re losing too many agents. As an organization, we gotta start taking care of each other,” Ortiz said, addressing the issue about border patrol agents quitting their job.
“I get it. You come to work, you’re frustrated. You’re upset because you didn’t get the desired outcome that you want. Doesn’t mean you give up,” Ortiz added.
One agent responded that they are not giving up. However, another agent said that It’s hard to say “do not give up” when Ortiz “releasing criminal aliens into the country.”
Ortiz shutdown the agent by saying that they are getting bogged down in the policies and the politics. “Why are you guys getting caught up in semantics? … I’ve been doing this job as long as y’all.” Ortiz asked them.
One agent answered saying that “For evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Good men are doing nothing. You’re allowing illegal aliens to be dropped off in communities.”
The border patrol chief insisted that the agency and the agents are doing a great job through rescues, drug buy busts, and taking illegal drugs off the street.
However, one person in the room pointed out that despite doing a good job in drug-related issues, the country still had the highest fentanyl deaths in the history of the country to which Ortiz replied with, “We’re working on it.”
“And that’s the problem,” the agent replied to him.
The tension suddenly defused when someone cracked a joke after the clash.
