New Jersey Will Eliminate School Mask Mandate For Children And Staff

The New Jersey’s democratic governor Phil Murphy plans to remove the state’s mask mandate in schools for children and school staffers.

Murphy is planning to make the official announcement of the mask mandate lift on Monday in Trenton during a pandemic briefing. However, the mandate will officially be lifted on March 7 as confirmed by the governor’s office official to Fox New Digital.

“These requirements again give us no joy, but they’re the only responsible course of action at this time,” Murphy said last month in an interview about his renewed mask mandate following a declaration of public health emergency.

The lifting of the mask mandate was his action after the cases of coronavirus plummeted. “I look to a time in this school year where we are no longer masking in our schools,” he said last Tuesday in a statement.

The New Jersey governor’s orders about the mask mandate became an issue as it faced a lawsuit last year. However, a preliminary injunction request to block the state’s mask mandate in December was denied as the in-school mask mandate is deemed as a “rational” move to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
