Wednesday–Iran publicly exposed their new and capable long-range missiles as indirect talks between the U.S. and Tehran for the revival of 2015 nuclear agreement resumes.
Iran State television featured the new surface-to-surface ballistic missile ‘Khaibar-buster’, named after the Jewish oasis Khaibar of the 7th century Saudi Arabia.
According to the state’s media, the new long-range missiles “has high accuracy and is propelled by solid fuel and is capable of penetrating missile shields” manufactured by the local Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
The missiles can travel up to 1,250 miles, far enough to reach Israel at its closest post, 620 miles away from Iran as the tension between Iran and Israel resumes due to the threats of Tehran’s nuclear weapons program.
Iran armed forces chief of staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri said, “Iran will continue advancing its ballistic missile program,” during the new long-range missiles ceremony featured by Iranian media.
The unveiling of the new long-range missiles are part of Iran’s revival for the 2015 nuclear agreement between the U.S. that the Biden Administration was trying to re-enter through talks with the Iranian government after former president Trump pulled out of the pact and reimplemented economic sanctions towards Iran during his term.
