Watch As San Francisco Store Owners Fight Back Against Robbers

Store owners in San Francisco fight back against hammer-wielding juvenile smash-and-grab criminals. The criminals are defeated.

Overall, according to the San Francisco Police Department data, there was a 12 percent rise in recorded offenses from 2020 to 2021. However, crime is still much lower than it was before the outbreak.

Furthermore, the change in crime rate varies significantly depending on the sort of crime we’re looking at; some climbed significantly, some decreased significantly, while others remained around the same as in 2020.

Around 3:20 p.m., the teenagers entered the Chinatown shop. They stayed for approximately three minutes before leaving, according to KPIX-TV, and inquired about the cost of a camera.

They returned around 30 minutes later, according to the station, and were not interested in doing business.

“All of a sudden, they brought out a hammer and started smashing the glass,” Sergio, the shop’s co-owner, told KPIX.

The issue was that the cases behind the counter were plexiglass and wouldn’t break, according to the station. However, one glass countertop case did crack.

Surveillance footage shows one of the business owners collecting what seems to be a bat or a rod and approaching the criminals, two of them smashing hammers at Sergio and the other holding a bat or a rod.

Sergio informed the channel that “one of the guys up there is trying to beat my partner with a hammer.” “I’m running and trying to get a bat I have.” “Here, I’m trying to defend myself and my company.”

According to KPIX, a nearby shop owner came over to assist and was struck with a hammer, requiring ten stitches.

Sergio told the broadcaster that one of the males sprayed pepper spray in his eyes. “The other person is swinging a hammer at me, and I’m attempting to defend myself.”

The attempted robbery and hammer attack ended after about a minute, according to KPIX. The trio can be seen rushing out of the wrecked business, seemingly without belongings.

Changes in human behavior due to the pandemic might lead to changes in crime rates, but they could also lead to changes in how often crimes are recorded. This implies that it’s impossible to determine if rape cases decreased as substantially as the figures suggest. According to research, sexual assault worsened during the epidemic; it’s possible that the decrease is due to fewer reporting.
