The GOP fires back at Biden following his demands to prosecute former US President Donald Trump for the January 6 capital riot.
According to the reports, following Biden’s demand, Former Rep. Collins slammed Biden for using the Jan.6 Capital riot as a cover up to distract the public’s attention from the current Hunter Biden controversy.
“When Hunter Biden’s laptop hits the surface, oops, let’s let’s revert back to other things: January 6th, Donald Trump, mean tweets. Whatever you want to talk about. ‘We don’t want to go to Hunter Biden’s laptop. And that’s when it always comes back up.” He said.
Previously, Biden slammed Attorney General Merrick Garland for not taking tougher actions against the former president, pressuring him to further investigate the riot that occured at the Capitol in January 6.
“The leaking of the President’s demand puts Garland in an even more difficult position,” Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley said in a statement.
“The clear intent of the leak is to let Garland know what the President expects from him. Yet, Garland has already been criticized by some of us for refusing to appoint a special counsel in the Hunter Biden scandal.” He added.
He also stated that C. Attorney General Karl Racine has dropped his pursuit of possible charges due to the fact that “there is no clear evidence of a crime.”
Turley then pointed out the reason behind Garlan’s actions. According to him, imposing tougher actions without clear evidence would “raise concerns over the Justice Department pursuing a political rather than a legal agenda — the very danger that Garland pledged to avoid.”
The Democrats and the mainstream media have been blaming Donald Trump and his allies, accusing him of “inciting” the riot.
However, Trump continues to deny any involvement, insisting that most attendees of his rally that day “were peaceful and did not participate in the riot later at the Capitol building.”
