Border Experts Predict How Bad Migrant Surge Can Get After Title 42 Is Lifted

The removal of Title 42 means that the Biden administration will now have to deal with a backlog at the border that has been in place for more than two years due to the United States’ refusal to provide migrants with a legal option for requesting asylum.

Consequently, the issue has already developed into a significant political war, with Republicans trying to depict the Biden administration as weak on immigration by repealing what they consider a “commonsense” border control policy.

By joining the clamor of worry over an impending migrant crisis, numerous Democrats who face tough reelection battles are trying to dissociate themselves from the Biden administration’s decision.

On the other hand, the reality of Title 42 and what lifting it would mean for the border is significantly more complex and nuanced.

According to former Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, who spoke on “Unfiltered” on Saturday:

“We see a problem on our southern border, even with Title 42. Considering that Title 42 has been in place for 14 months, you can expect an increase in the number of people traveling to and staying in Border Patrol facilities and residences that are now overburdened until it is lifted at the end of May. Because of Title 42, the 14-month crisis has been concealed, in many respects, by its coverage. The 23rd of May will mark the beginning of a surge that will last for several months,” Wolf said.

In my opinion, this government lacks a strategy or a plan to deal with the current situation. To them, it’s all about processing and getting more and more of these people into the nation, which is just the wrong approach. That will encourage more people to enter the border illegally.

After years of denying immigrants a legal right to claim asylum, many believe that Title 42 will suddenly play a significant role in creating congestion on the border.

Human traffickers might find a broad market for their services as worldwide migration continues to climb, and the conclusion of the crisis is likely to be portrayed as an end to US border controls.

The numbers may be lower than expected, and the Biden administration has promised to remove individuals who don’t have a valid visa, which might force them to rely more heavily on Trump-era regulations.
