A Chicago police officer was run over while trying to stop a stolen vehicle during a Traffic stop on Saturday night.
According to the authorities, the incident took place at 9 p.m. along East Roosevelt Road and South Michigan Avenue in Chicago’s South Loop.
The 23-year-old officer reportedly suffered a leg injury after the incident and is currently in a fair condition at Northwestern Hospital.
Reports revealed that the incident started when the officers attempted to pull over the stolen gray Saturn sedan.
However, the unidentified driver reportedly drove onto the curb, after the officers approached him and reportedly struck the officer before speeding away.
Furthermore, the Chicago police revealed that multiple persons of interest are being questioned by the authorities.
On Sunday, the police announced that they had found the stolen silver sedan near 111th Street and Michigan Avenue where a weapon was also reportedly recovered from the vehicle.
As of the writing, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
