Clinton Campaign Tries To Stop DOJ From Obtaining Key Documents

This week, Durham requested, in a 23-page motion, that a federal judge order the materials from Perkins Coie be given up for an in-camera examination.

According to a report by Fox News, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign is attempting to obstruct Special Counsel John Durham from obtaining documents necessary for his investigation into the Russian Collusion Hoax.

There are records relating to work done by the law firm Perkins Coie LLP for Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and an opposition research firm, Fusion GPS.

Funding for Fusion GPS’ now-debunked Steele Dossier came from the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign.

Non-party organizations were asked for “additional rationale for the assertion of their privilege” by Durham, who issued the document request earlier this month.

Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign group, Hillary for America (HFA), claimed last week that some of the records requested by Durham should be kept because the attorney-client privilege protects them.

Using this privilege, a client of an attorney can maintain the confidentiality of some discussions with the lawyer. According to court filings, Hillary For America and the DNC are the clients in this case. It is up to Hillary For America to exercise the privilege.

Robby Mook, Clinton’s former campaign manager, and John Podesta, her former campaign chair, both spoke out in favor of Hillary for America’s claim of privilege.

That Perkins Coie, either via its employees or through any subcontractors it may have hired to assist in the 2016 campaign, provided legal services and legal advice to HFA is what Mook believes.

On the contrary, Podesta’s reaction was more straightforward, stating:

HFA received legal services and legal advice from Perkins Coie, whether such services were provided by Perkins Coie’s experts or contractors it may have hired to help it. On April 6, 2022, the government filed a motion to force HFA to comply with its demands; HFA refuses to do so and challenges the government’s demands.
