Police Rescue 2 Men And A Toddler After Rubber Raft Sinks

Police in Seattle have rescued two men and a toddler after receiving a report of their rubber raft beginning to sink in the choppy waters of Lake Washington last week.

According to the Seattle Police Department, their patrol officers and officers immediately responded to the I-90 floating bridge on Wednesday, following the report of a rubber raft with two adults and a two-year old child being carried away by strong waves.

Upon arrival of the rescuers at the scene, the authorities discovered that the situation was worse than they thought after two good Samaritans had been thrown in the water while helping the two adults and a child.

Hold on. Don’t fight! We got you,” officers yelled at one of the adults.

“Who else you got in the water?” an officer asked.

In a video footage released by the department, officers can be seen pulling the two adults and child up to safety.

Other occupants of a civilian motorboat that had rushed to the scene to help have also been rescued by the officers.

“I got you!” a rescuer can be heard saying while he was pulling an adult out of the water to safety.

“They’re all on board. They’re good,” another officer said as he told one of the rescued adults.

Authorities revealed that the adults were not wearing life jackets as they were sitting in a sinking raft at the Stan Sayres boat dock.

Police also revealed that the raft began to take on water from the large waves as it reached the I-90 floating bridge, forcing both adults and a child into the choppy water.

About an hour after the rescue, the KIRO-TV reported that the temperature of turbulent waters during the rescue were reportedly 52 degrees which was cold enough to cause hypothermia in about an hour.

Authorities also confirmed that no one was hospitalized but all victims were treated for exposure.

After the rescue, rescuers issued a warning, reminding anyone who goes out on the lake should always wear a life jacket.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, it’s still unclear what the two adults and a child were doing in a rubber raft without wearing life jackets.
