Los Angeles Mayoral candidate Gina Viola who is also a so-called social activist and a potential Democratic nominee backed by the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, is calling to defund and eliminate the police amid the surge in crime rates across the city.
In the latest statistics released by the California Department of Justice from 2020, it was revealed that homicide rates across the state have hit its highest with Los Angeles having a crime rate that is higher than 83%.
However, despite the increasing crime rates and violence in Los Angeles, Gina Viola is aiming to defund the police, calling them the “safeguards of white supremacy,” if she wins the mayoral elections.

In her recent interview, Viola claimed that the law enforcement agencies are acting as “watchdogs” to “protect white supremacy in America,” despite her being a potential Democratic nominee, several Democrats have distanced themselves from the “Defund Police” agenda.
Reports also revealed that other Democrats are running against her and vowing to add more police officers in Los Angeles, including Rick Caruso and Rep. Karen Bass who vowed to fund police further.
Furthermore, Viola also expressed her interest to eliminate the police completely and replace them with social services.
“There’s nothing wrong with saying DEFUND THE POLICE. As we’ve seen over and over again – the police do not keep us safe.” Viola tweeted.
Moreover, she also blasted Democratic competitor, Rick Caruso and claimed that voting for him is like voting for White Supremacy.
“I’m sorry – A VOTE FOR @RickCarusoLA IS A VOTE FOR WHITE SUPREMACY! I’m not mincing any words. Rick Caruso is a real threat to our communities.” Viola added.
“Of course Caruso’s campaign has no substantive retort other than “look who endorsed me! @RickCarusoLA is an anti-abortion billionaire that hates unhoused people. He has no climate plan. He is a real danger.” She continued.
