DC Shoplifters Caught On Video Stealing From Store Near Capitol

Shocking video caught shoplifters robbing a grocery store near the U.S. Capital in Washington, D.C.

In the video, three people in the Giant Food grocery store on H Street NE are seen stealing laundry detergent—filling up garbage bags and a shopping cart.

A separate video showed a shopper unaffiliated with the robbery casually walking past the thieves.

According to a witness, the store’s security officer did not attempt to stop the robbers. It’s unclear if they have been arrested but Giant Grocery said that they are investigating the incident.

This comes as crime has surged to an all-time high, thanks to the Biden administration’s handling of inflation and skyrocketing gas prices, leaving Americans to fend for themselves.

In High Point, North Carolina, nearly 400 gallons were stolen from a Bizzy Bee Grocery Store and Gas Station.

Surveillance footage showed several cars pulling up near the gas pumps and began filling their tanks over the course of 45 minutes. Hardik Patel, who is the owner of the establishment, said that 398 gallons were stolen, amounting to $1,600 worth of gas.

Reports indicate that someone bypassed the payment system, allowing the gas to flow during after-hours.

“I’ve been in business for 15 years and owned other gas stations. I have never seen something like this,” Patel told reporters. “It wasn’t free, they were stealing.”

Meanwhile in Los Angeles, California, a Beverly Hills police officer driving down Rodeo Drive pulled over and chased after an alleged thief who was running from authorities while carrying a large pink bag.

The motorcycle cop eventually catches up to him, grabbing him and pulling him to the ground. A second cop later jumps in to assist in the arrest. Police didn’t disclose what the accused thief allegedly stole.

The West Coast has seen a spike in smash and grab crimes recently, possibly due to residents suffering financial strain.

“I think this is a confluence of about 10 years of laws and policymaking starting with Prop 47, then AB 109, and Prop 57 which essentially decriminalized many of the crimes in California,” said Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook last December.
