Why America Is Angry And The Media Are Outraged Over Abortion Ruling

After the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade this month and declared that the constitutional right to abortion no longer exists, supporters of abortion rights immediately slammed the ruling with rioters destroying properties as they charged through different cities across the United States.

Amid the controversy, both pro-life and pro-choice protesters’ fear of violence against each other intensify amid recent wave of attacks.

On Saturday night, a group of 60 black-clad rioters stormed downtown Portland, “breaking windows and scrawling graffiti,” the Portland police reported.

Just this week, pro-choice marchers also protested outside the State Senate building, forcing lawmakers to refuge in the basement, with protesters scaring and attempting to hurt the authorities.

However, hundreds of thousands of pro-life activists have gathered, holding up signs and using their sound system to voice their concerns, arguing that “killing an unborn child” is “murder.”

“When we determine to take a life, it’s murder; it’s killing a living entity, a living child,” Esther Seffrood, a pro-life protester said.

Amid the ongoing debate over the Supreme court’s ruling, many have expressed their concerns over the division among Americans that it created.

“It feels like the country is being torn apart. Or, as the Atlantic put it, becoming two nations sharing the same geographic space. America is now literally divided – this has moved beyond metaphor – into states where abortion is banned and states where it is legal.” Howard Kurtz of Fox News wrote.

Moreover, the news organization also fuels the fire. The media reaction “has been more personal and more visceral than anything I’ve seen in my professional lifetime.” Kurtz added.

Just recently, Times columnist Pamela Paul dragged the country and claimed that America has “become “merciless” and that there is an “American bent toward cruelty.”

“From abortion to guns to the death penalty, she says, supposedly the institution vested with carrying out the highest standard of justice for its citizens and yet is wholly indifferent to the lives of America’s women, children and families.” Pamela claimed.

Moreover, the some news organizations in the media industry also continue to attack Justice Clarence Thomas after Roe v. Wade decision.

“The mainstream liberal media hates Clarence Thomas. Water is wet, news at 11. The demonization of Thomas always has been bad, but has become even more pernicious in light of the Supreme Court’s abortion decision,” Cornell Law School professor William A. Jacobson stated in an interview with the Fox News.

“Thomas did not author the majority Opinion, but has received much more focus and hate than Samuel Alito, who was the author. Thomas also has been the subject of racial slurs, including by the likes of actor Samuel L. Jackson, who referred to Thomas as ‘Uncle Clarence,’” Jacobson added. “This is a continuation of a decades-long liberal attack on Thomas that is highly radicalized.” He added.
