As midterm elections loom, Democrats are fearing that the infighting and dissatisfaction with the Biden administration could cost them their majority in Congress during the November 8 midterm elections.
According to a CNN/SSRS poll released on Monday, only 29 percent of white voters said that President Joe Biden had the right priorities during his term, while a whopping 71 percent said that he ignored the most important issues.
The survey also found that only 35 percent of voters of color approve of the president’s performance, with 64 percent saying he’s been off the mark — which shows an alarming precedent for the Democratic party, as these demographic groups are key for them.
This indicates that an increasing number of Americans are losing trust in Biden, including fellow Democrats who are already blaming him for the party’s impending doom.
Earlier this month, more than two dozen Dem lawmakers and officials blew the whistle on how bad they think the current administration is, saying that they don’t feel that the president is doing enough to reflect their anger and concerns about leftist issues.
“Biden’s response seemed flat to many Democrats,” reported Politico. “And there is fear the piecemeal [gun safety] bill didn’t just sap momentum to continue addressing gun violence but was already giving cover to Republicans.”
This comes as Biden’s popularity continues to plummet to the point that Dems don’t even want him to run again in 2024.
A Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday found that 54 percent of Democrats don’t want Biden to mount a re-election run, while only 40 percent said that he should. Overall, a telling 71 percent of Americans oppose the president running for a second term.
Meanwhile, a New York Times/Siena College survey from earlier this month also showed that only 26 percent of registered Democratic voters said that the party should renominate Biden.
When asked for comment about the recent polls, the president lashed out at the press, insisting that the Dems “want me to run.”
“Read the poll. Read the polls, Jack. You guys are all the same. That poll showed that 92% of Democrats, if I ran, would vote for me,” he said.
Biden, who at 79 became the oldest individual ever elected to serve in the White House, is planning to run again in 2024.
“To be clear, as the President has said repeatedly, he plans to run in 2024,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted last month.
