Christian School Sued For Allegedly Refusing To Hire LGBTQ Teachers

A Christian university in Seattle is being sued over its policy banning LGBTQ teachers from getting hired.

On Monday, students and teachers filed a lawsuit against Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, alleging that the university violated its fiduciary duty and engaged in fraud by enacting a religious-based hiring policy prohibiting educators in same-sex relationships.

“This hiring policy, loathed by the SPU community, prohibits the employment of otherwise qualified LGBTQ+ people at SPU if an LGBTQ+ applicant or employee is married to, or in relationship with, someone of the same sex,” read the lawsuit. “These men brush aside the severe and widespread harm they continue to inflict on the most vulnerable students and employees of the university, namely, the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students and employees.”

The lawsuit also asks the board and the interim president, Pete Menjares, to resign, as well as to provide financial compensation for any who were “harmed by the LGBTQ policy.”

“Defendants chose this path in order to defend a discriminatory hiring policy that undermined, and has torn apart, the heart and soul of SPU,” the lawsuit added.

The Free Methodist Church, which founded the university in 1891, allegedly threatened to remove its connection to the school if the policy was removed, according to the lawsuit.

This comes as radical leftists all over the world continue to shove their woke ideologies into schools. Similarly, in Ireland, a teacher was put behind bars for refusing to use his student’s preferred pronouns.

Enoch Burke, who teaches history, politics, and German at Wilson’s Hospital School, was arrested earlier this month after he violated a court order prohibiting him from teaching classes or even being present on the school’s campus in Westmeath.

Burke reportedly refused to call a student who was transitioning from male to identifying as female as “they” instead of “he,” prompting school officials to place him on paid administrative leave until a disciplinary process is completed.

He was later locked behind bars after he refused to stay away from his classroom in protest. Burke, who has no criminal record, has since been moved in with the general prison population with other nonviolent offenders.
