As the southern border crisis worsens thanks to the Biden administration’s failed border policies, the number of illegal immigrants on the terror watchlist rose by a frightening 400 percent in 2022.
The Customs and Border Protection reported recently that the number of migrant encounters at the southern border has reached the two-million mark this fiscal year, breaching the already-historic 1.7 million encounters last year.
78 of the migrant encounters were reportedly on the U.S. terror watchlist this year, and two of them were accidentally released into the U.S. by authorities earlier this year.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear that the person behind the next big shooting or that the person who drove into a crowd is one of the people on this watch list,” said Todd Bensman from the Center for Immigration Studies, who criticized President Joe Biden’s open-door approach to border security.
Bensman said that terrorist groups such as ISIS are taking advantage of the southern border crisis to slip through the net into the U.S.
“These individuals are looking at the chaos in our borders and flying over from around the world, throwing their ID’s into the dirt and trying to come in under a made-up name seeking asylum,” Bensman said.
He added that Biden must put the security of the nation before pandering to the demands of the left by re-establishing former President Donald Trump’s “Title 42” policy, which has allowed the border agency to turn migrants away in the past.
“We can’t let them in,” Bernsman warned. “The program has to stop now. It’s that simple. We haven’t had any attack so far thanks to the diligence of our agents at the border, but that’s collapsing.”
This comes after a recent Department of Homeland Security intelligence report revealed that the Venezuelan government is purposely freeing inmates and sending them to the U.S. border.
The release of the convicts is speculated to be a purposeful geopolitical move to impact the country’s national security, adding that the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (SEBIN), Venezuela’s equivalent to the CIA, may have played a role in the deliberate release of felons.
“Unless we apprehend someone who voluntarily tells us they have committed a violent crime in Venezuela, we can only guess, and that doesn’t work well,” a source told Breitbart. “They will more than likely be released.”
