Embarrassing video captured House Speaker Nancy Pelosi being booed at New York City’s Global Citizen music festival after making a surprise appearance at the event.
On Saturday, Pelosi took the stage to speak about carbon pollution and climate change.

“As speaker of the house, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking and determination as global citizens,” she told the crowd while wearing a white pantsuit with a matching scarf.
“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer. It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis,” she added.
Despite saying that she would keep her remarks short to not delay the music, the California representative went on talking about climate-change initiatives such as calling for “better water and air for our children” and “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”
The crowd continued to react loudly, drowning her in boos and cheers.
Pelosi then went backstage to take pictures with actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, and her husband Paul Pelosi.
“Thank you, @SpeakerPelosi for recognizing Global Citizens all around the world who took action in support of the new, historic climate legislation in the US!” the Global Citizen tweeted Saturday evening.
Mariah Carey, Usher, Metallica, and The Jonas Brothers performed at the concert.
This isn’t the first time Pelosi has embarrassed herself in front of a crowd. Earlier this month, she asked the silent audience to applaud while celebrating the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act despite reports that inflation rose by 8.3 percent in August.
“Mr. President, thank you for unifying and inspiring a vision of a stronger, fairer, safer future for all our children. Your extraordinary leadership has made this glorious day possible,” Pelosi said, followed by a long moment of silence before telling the crowd to clap: “That’s an applause line.”
More than a thousand people were crammed on the south lawn of the White House as Democrats praised the so-called “good job” they have done since taking over.
