On Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a conscious attempt to poke fun at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) by saying that he should cease “shipping these immigrants up north” when Florida farmers need them “to harvest the crops” due to a lack of workers.
We need people in our nation because there is a labor shortage, and you can see this even in Florida with certain farmers and producers asking, “Why are you shipping these, uh, immigrants up north?”
Pelosi responded, “I believe that we have to have a secure border, and I think that we are attempting to address, um, the president has a plan to handle that.” when asked whether the southern border is strong and protected.

She went on to say that the present border situation, which has seen a remarkable 3.8 million migrant crossings since President Joe Biden assumed office, is the consequence of the previous President Donald Trump, whom she viciously characterized as an “occasional occupant of the White House who preceded President Biden.”
The Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, and other Republican governors have recently made attempts to transport undocumented immigrants north to locations like Martha’s Vineyard, New York City, and Washington, D.C., while Pelosi continued to make the economic case.
Pelosi’s comments come as the United States continues to be seized by a record border crisis that has culminated in more than 2.1 million interactions with migrants so far this fiscal year, including more than 200,000 incidents in August alone.
Republican governors have decided to airlift and transport migrants further north due to the persistent nature of the situation.
Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, shuttled over 10,000 migrants around Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C., while DeSantis’ office transported roughly 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, which infuriated Democrats.
In a recent statement, Vice President Kamala Harris called for a “pathway to citizenship” for illegal immigrants while asserting that the border is “secure.”
“The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” VP Harris disclosed to the public on Meet the Press earlier this month.
