US Senator ENDS Speculation – He’s Not Running for President

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) rose to prominence in 2015 under President Barack Obama. During the lawmaker’s first term in the upper house, he led an effort to derail the nuclear deal with Iran. Seven years later, he has become one of the most prominent conservative voices in Congress. And it seems that’s where he intends to stay for the foreseeable future.

Presidential race 2024

Cotton reportedly opted not to run for president in 2024. The senator had reportedly considered running for the White House in the next cycle and had spent about two years campaigning for other party members. He has organized a retreat for his donors at a spa in Virginia, scheduled after the midterms. He has also published a book on the history of the military.

However, in the last week, the senator has reportedly started calling his allies and donors to let them know he has decided not to run. Cotton’s main concern was that a national presidential campaign would be too difficult for his two children, ages five and seven.

During an interview with Fox News, Cotton said that now is not the right time to “engage in a campaign six to seven days a week for the next two years.” She explained that her “family was really the only consideration” when she decided she didn’t want to run for POTUS.

Who will run?

No one has stated their intention to run for the White House in 2024 at the time of publishing, although it is widely believed that former President Donald Trump will try his luck again. He said he won’t decide until after the midterm elections. How long later is still in the air, even though there has been a lot of speculation.

If Trump decides to run for a second term, he will likely remain the frontrunner. The former US president has broad support in the GOP and is still able to draw large crowds of people to rallies.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is also one of the names experts are considering as a possible candidate for the GOP nomination. The conservative has earned respect for his handling of Florida’s pandemic response and how he has leaned on the left. DeSantis also spearheaded educational laws to protect children from indoctrination and even fought against Disney. The Sunshine State leader has not indicated that he will run, but many are hoping he will.
