Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is under fire after a new ad described her as “cool” despite the city’s gripping crime crisis.
Fox News contributor Gianno Caldwell joined “Fox & Friends” Thursday to discuss it, calling Lightfoot an “embarrassment” who should “step down.”
“If you don’t think it’s time to appoint a better mayor, then you’re lost. And he should just resign in disgrace,” Caldwell argued.
The new Democratic campaign ad says it has been “great” during COVID and has “delivered” more jobs.
Caldwell said Chicagoans are “tired of the missteps” made by Lightfoot.

“Last year, we had the highest murder rate in Chicago in 25 years. Think of Chicago’s child poverty rate. The national average is 16%. In Chicago, it’s 23%,” he said.
Caldwell shared how families like his have paid the price because of Lightfoot’s policies.
“My brother was murdered on June 24th at 114 South Vincent Street. He’s paid the price, but there are so many other families who paid the price. I have friends, one in particular, who lost two brothers in the three years under her tenure, Lori Lightfoot. I spoke to another friend whose mother has lost four children separately,” she said.
Caldwell said it was the best news to hear that Republicans won a majority in the US House of Representatives to hopefully provide federal intervention in the crime crisis.
“There must be oversight of federal dollars going to Chicago, to the Cook County prosecutor. And we have to make sure that the FBI is involved in some of these cases because this has simply become insurmountable for many families,” he said.
Fox News radio host Jimmy Failla criticized Chicago for being “out of control” and joked that the city is where SEAL Team Six should train due to the crime crisis.
“She’s never had any respect for anyone but Lori Lightfoot. Remember during the pandemic when she got caught and had a blowout and put on makeup, and said, I gotta do blockbuster TV, she told Fox & Friends First.
Reacting to “Fox &; Friends,” OutKick founder Clay Travis derided the “absurd” video and called Lightfoot “America’s Worst Mayor” among so many bad mayors.
“She was also not well during COVID. He was constantly closing schools, forcing everyone to wear a mask. I watch this video and think, “Nobody with a functioning brain could vote for Lori Lightfoot to be re-elected.” But then I remember they just put John Fetterman in Pennsylvania, and it doesn’t seem to matter what grades you have, even if you can talk or if you’re healthy enough to do the job,” she said.
“It’s actually a perfect reflection of how awful it was.”
