House Democrats are beginning to panic as Republican lawmakers launch investigations into Hunter Biden’s shady overseas business dealings.
The Washington Post reported that there are two different strategies dividing the groups allied with President Joe Biden.
“The meeting was a glimpse into a sprawling infrastructure that is rapidly, almost frantically, assembling to combat Republicans’ plans to turn Hunter Biden into a major news story when the GOP takes over the House next year,” the news outlet reported, adding “the risk for Hunter Biden, and possibly for President Biden as well, is that this hodgepodge of efforts is not fully coordinating and does not share a unified approach.”
One strategy being advocated by Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris is to be aggressive, while the alternative plan would be for the entire Biden family to keep silent about the situation. The second strategy would allow Democratic lawmakers time to dismantle the GOP’s investigations as politicized and without merit.
Morris said in September that Democrats should take the initiative and openly defend Hunter, adding that John Paul Mac Isaac, a computer repairman who is claimed to have had access to Hunter’s infamous laptop, and Tony Bobulinski, a former business associate, might both testify against the younger Biden.
Many of Biden’s allies, including the White House, disagree with this strategy, though. Being pushy can backfire, and the Biden Administration apparently preferred that Hunter Biden quietly avoid the spotlight.
“No one thinks this strategy of putting Hunter Biden front and center is smart,” said a Democrat familiar with the situation. “No one, including the White House, thinks this is a smart strategy.”
The Democrats have reportedly “developed their strategies for dealing with what could be a political firestorm around the president’s son,” while Biden hired Bob Bauer, who was the White House counsel under former President Barack Obama, to personally represent him if it comes to that.
Hunter is currently under federal criminal investigation after banks flagged four of his transactions as “potential criminal activity,” including a suspicious deposit of $100,000 that came from China.
Despite this, Biden has stood by his son, while the White House has consistently declined to comment on any investigations into Hunter.
