Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy has once again stumped White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over questions about Obama-era classified documents discovered in President Joe Biden’s garage.
During a White House press briefing last week, Doocy taunted Jean-Pierre about Biden’s mishandled documents after slamming former President Donald Trump for doing the same thing last year.
“On these documents, how could anyone be that irresponsible? Isn’t that what this president says about mishandling classified documents?” the reporter asked.
“The president spoke to this personally,” the press secretary responded. “Again, he believes that classified documents and information should be taken seriously. He takes them seriously.”
This comes after bombshell reports revealed earlier this month that several classified documents were discovered in Biden’s private office in November. The White House Counsel’s Office later searched the president’s two homes in Wilmington, Delaware, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, following the news of the first documents.
White House lawyers said they immediately contacted the Justice Department when they discovered the second batch of documents inside the Wilmington garage.
“Lawyers discovered among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden administration records with classified markings. All but one of these documents were found in storage space in the President’s Wilmington residence garage,” White House lawyers wrote in a statement. “One document consisting of one page was discovered among stored materials in an adjacent room.”
A source close to the situation said that less than a dozen secret documents were discovered in Biden’s office. The purpose of the documents and their relevance are currently unknown. Official records and classified records must be turned over by federal officeholders upon leaving government employment, as required by law.
Following the shocking news, Biden also got into a heated argument with Doocy during a separate press briefing last week.
“Classified documents next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Doocy asked the president.
“I’m going to get the chance to speak on all of this, God willing it’ll be soon, but I said earlier this week — and by the way, my Corvette is in a locked garage. It’s not like it’s sitting out in the street,” Biden responded.
