Soldier Faces 15 Years in Prison for a Bomb Hoax

A British soldier is accused of committing a bomb hoax and a terror offense at a Royal Air Force base, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Daniel Abed Khalife, of Beacon Barracks, Beaconside, Stafford, was charged on Friday over two incidents at RAF Stafford in Beaconside in August 2021 and January of this year.

“London’s Metropolitan Police said on Friday they had charged Daniel Abed Khalif from Stafford in central England with eliciting or attempting to elicit in August 2021 information that could be used by a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism,” Reuters reported.

On Aug. 2 2021, Khalife is accused of eliciting or attempting to elicit information “about an individual who was or had been a member of His Majesty’s forces which was of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism,” according to court documents.

The second charge alleges that he placed “three canisters with wires at RAF Stafford with the intention of inducing in another a belief that the said article was likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury or damage to property.”

The August 2021 and January 2023 incidents violate Section 58A of the Terrorism Act 2000 and Section 51 of the Criminal Law Act 1977, respectively.

Khalife, 21, had a brief preliminary hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court on Saturday while wearing a gray jumper and blue jeans.

He talked to confirm his age, name, and address while being represented by Michael Jones. The district judge, Annabel Pilling, postponed the plea before venue proceedings until Feb. 3 at the request of the prosecution, Tom Williams. Khalif reportedly did not make a plea and was remanded in custody.

“When Khalif appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, the judge adjourned proceedings until Feb. 3 so that the Attorney General can give permission for the case to go ahead,” the report continued.

The incident further brings into question the vetting procedure for people entering a country’s institutions and security services —  box-ticking leftists checklists for the sake of relevance. Nations across the globe should always monitor who gets accepted into the military.
