Two more senior staffers are leaving US President Joe Biden’s administration amid circulating controversies against the latter, sparking doubts among Americans as to whether the President deserves another chance if he seeks reelection.
Recent polls showed that voters are ambivalent about supporting Joe Biden if seeks reelection in 2024.
Amid doubts on the President’s capability to lead the United States following a series of controversies, two senior staffers announced their departure from the administration.
In a report published by CNN, 30-year-old Remi Yamamoto, one of Biden’s senior staff who served as senior adviser for communications to White House chief of staff Ron Klain, announced that she’s resigning from her position.
Following the announcement, many administration officials stressed and praised her loyalty and her role in keeping the administration largely leak-free, especially compared to its predecessor.
In an interview with CNN, Biden told the media outlet that “from the very start of the campaign, Remi has been unflinchingly loyal and extraordinarily capable. Her insights, good humor, and work ethic have been an incredible asset to all of us, and I am grateful for her service and friendship.”
Senior White House adviser Mike Donilon also praised Yamamoto in a similar manner and described the latter as an integral part of Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.
“She really internalized who President Biden is and what the campaign was about. There’s a DNA in this place that comes from what it took to get here.” Donilon said in a statement.
Yamamoto’s resignation came after the departure of White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield.
Following Bedingfield’s departure, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blasted former President Donald Trump for his criticisms of Bedingfield’s work on behalf of Biden
“I understand that after a certain previous occupant of this White House, whose name will be nameless, but as you know who this person is — he got angry and yelled and said, quote, ‘Biden has a team of killers. All I’ve got — all I’ve got is a defense,’” Jean-Pierre lamented.
“Okay, that was in the campaign. That was when the campaign communications team started calling Kate and the captain — the captain of the Team [of] Killers,” the Press secretary continued.
