An Amazon Executive Dispels the Myth That Robots Steal Employment

A top Amazon executive spoke out and said that robots are not taking work from people. Stefano La Rovere, who is in charge of global robotics, mechatronics, and sustainable packing at Amazon, said that robots are not taking jobs; instead, they are making jobs better and more advanced.

“The idea that robots and technology do away with jobs is a myth,” La Rovere said.

He said that new tools are making it possible for people to get into new types of jobs. A company called Amazon said that these new tools have made more than 50,000 jobs better.

There are a lot more of these technologies in Amazon’s European delivery center. Over 700 million euros have been spent and over 1,000 new technologies have been added.

“Robots and technology help our employees by reducing the walking distance between assignments, by getting rid of repetitive motions, or by helping them lift heavy weights,” La Rovere said.

He went on to say, “In turn, our employees can learn new competencies, skills, and abilities that will help them move forward in their careers.”

The popularity of many types of technology has grown, and many people have used artificial intelligence in some way in their own companies. AI can be very helpful for businesses that want to spend money on technology and work more efficiently.

La Rovere says that the deployment of this technology has created 700 new types of jobs for the company. It is said that Amazon will automate their fulfillment centers, which will help them pack and get packages ready.
