An American poll shows that most people see China as an enemy

A study from the Pew Research Center says that a lot of Americans don’t like China and see it as an enemy of the US.

Over 40% of those polled said China was an enemy of the U.S. This is the biggest percentage of people who have said this since the question was first asked. A lot of the people surveyed also said they saw China as a rival, not a friend.

These results come at a tough time for ties between China and the US, especially since the US election is coming up soon. Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have both taken tough views on China. Many decisions have been made about trade and sanctions with China.

The possible ban on ByteDance’s TikTok app has also made things worse between the two countries. One of the things people who answered the poll said should be “top foreign policy priority for the U.S.”

They also don’t like how China affects the U.S. business and say it has a big, bad effect, according to Pew.

When we looked at the survey data, we saw that they were very different depending on age and political affiliation. Also, they discovered that people who thought the economy was bad mostly blamed China and had a worse opinion of it.

Also, people between the ages of 18 and 30 had the best opinions of China compared to everyone else.

Former U.S. assistant secretary of defense for strategy and plans and now a government professor at Harvard University, Graham Allison, said, “The relationship is becoming slightly more stable, even though fundamentally it remains a struggle between competition on the one hand and cooperation on the other.”
