Apple warns you not to put your wet iPhone in rice

Many of us have dropped our phones in water before, and the best way to get the water out of the phone without damaging it is to put it in a bag of rice.

It’s likely that a lot of us have done this, but Apple just recently put out a warning that iPhone users shouldn’t put their phones in a bag of wet rice. Apple says that this could slow down the drying process because it could stop the flow of air that dries out the ports and devices. Also, they said that small pieces of rice could get stuck in places like the charge port and hurt the phone.

If you want to dry out your phone, Apple told you what you should do instead. Apple says that the first thing you should do is tap your phone on your hand with the charger port facing down to get the water out. Leave your phone alone for 30 minutes to dry out, then try to plug it in again. You can keep using the charger if there is no warning.

There will be a warning that says “Liquid detected in USB-C” if there is still water in the charging port. You will need to unplug the device and leave it in a dry place for 24 hours before trying to plug it back in.

However, Apple also says that you shouldn’t use a hair dryer or any other type of heat gun on your device to try to dry it faster. You can plug your gadget back in and charge it after 24 hours. If that doesn’t work, Apple says to try a different power source, like a different cord or outlet, and see if that works.

If your phone has been covered in water, keep an eye on it because other types of water damage could hurt it in the long run. If the gadget gets wet, it can affect the sound, the screen, and how it works in general.
