It appears that the first Irish dog is not one for the Biden camp.
President Michael Higgins’ Great Bernese Mountain Dog barked at President Joe Biden as the two leaders walked over to the dog during the Democrat’s visit to the European country on Thursday.
The puppy, Misneach, whose name means “Courage,” started wagging his tail when he saw his owner, but immediately started barking when Biden walked over and crouched down in front of him.
“Bad dog,” one off-camera person joked with a laugh. Biden pleaded with the dog, but Misneach continued to bark and snub the Democrat. Biden gave up and walked away, and the couple continued their tour of the grounds outside the Higgin residence. Biden was visiting Ireland to speak on the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
The barking incident wasn’t the first time Biden and his canine companions made the news. In March 2021, according to internal emails, Biden’s oldest German shepherd bit members of the Secret Service eight days in a row.
A visitor to the White House was also bitten by the dog that same month, according to leaked emails. At least one of the injuries sustained by the Secret Service agent from the dog bite has been described as “serious”.
The Biden administration publicly acknowledged just one of the alleged bites before a control group exposed the emails.
Major was gifted to a family friend at the end of 2021. On Wednesday, Biden caused a media frenzy when he made an embarrassing mistake during his visit to Ireland. You accidentally mistook the name of the British forces pursuing the Irish for the name of a New Zealand rugby team while you were making a speech.
