President Joe Biden attended the Detroit Auto Show on Wednesday, just one day after inflation rose by 8.3 percent in August.
“Biden revved a gas-guzzling Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which starts at $105,000, before sitting in the driver’s seat of an electric Chevrolet Silverado EV, which starts at $39,900, and checking out an electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, which goes for around $47,000,” the New York Post reported.

Biden then got behind the wheel of an electric Cadillac Lyric worth $63,000 around a convention center showroom.
“Jump in. I’ll give you a ride to Washington,” the president quipped at reporters while driving the Lyric. “It’s an Uber!”
After his trip to Detroit, Biden returned to the White House and posted his visit on Twitter with a pro-electric caption paired with a photo of himself admiring a non-electric Corvette.
“You all know I’m a car guy,” he tweeted. “Today I visited the Detroit Auto Show and saw firsthand the electric vehicles that give me so many reasons to be optimistic about our future.”
This comes just a day after Biden celebrated the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act following the release of Consumer Price Index data that showed a 12-month inflation rate of 8.3 percent.
During the celebration, the president was joined by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who each hailed the bill as a solution to the soaring inflation.
“[The Inflation Reduction Act is] the single most important legislation passed in the Congress to combat inflation and one of the most significant laws in our nation’s history,” Biden said.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics also reported on Tuesday that real average hourly earnings fell 2.8 percent last month compared to the previous year. Money in bank accounts that don’t pay interest lost 8.3 percent of its value in the same period.
Republicans blasted Biden for celebrating the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act despite a negative inflation report.
“Joe Biden is the most out-of-touch president of my lifetime. He looks like a fool celebrating his reckless spending spree while prices continue to rise and the stock market is tanking,” said Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer in a statement.
