Climate concerns meant that the Olympics did not have air conditioning

Because of worries about the weather and a push to make the Olympics more eco-friendly, Olympians who will be at the Olympic Village in Paris will not have air conditioning.

This summer, Yann Krysinski is in charge of the sites and infrastructure for the Olympics. He said that the layout of the buildings means that air conditioning isn’t needed and that the athletes will still be comfortable.

“We designed these buildings so that they would be comfortable places to live in the summer, in 2024 and later on,” Krysinski told them. “We don’t need air conditioning in these buildings because we oriented the facades so that they wouldn’t get too much sun during the summer, and the facades, the insulation is efficient.”

They said that the flats would be cooled by a system that would use water. After the goal to cut carbon pollution from the Olympics in half, this choice was made. This would make the Olympics the most environmentally friendly ones ever. Even though the weather was getting warmer and it was summer, they said they should be able to cool the place down easily.

Six thousand people are going to move into the area after the Olympics. There will be schools, a wall to block out noise, and a new bridge.

To answer this, the Australian Olympic Committee said it would spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on air cooling, and the Greek Olympic Group said they would bring their own. Last year, 5,000 people died in France because it was too hot. This is to protect the players from the weather.
