In a recent meeting held in San Francisco, President Joe Biden convened with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
The gathering followed his visit to Wayne County, Michigan, where he engaged with autoworkers during a brief 12-minute stop, and later attended a fundraising event with prominent figures from Hollywood.
During the San Francisco meeting, President Biden delivered a speech on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research, highlighting America’s leadership in responsible AI innovation.
“AI has the potential to transform research. America leads the way toward responsible AI innovation.” Biden stated.
Biden underlined in his speech the value of science, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) in meeting today’s challenges. He stated that his administration will continue to engage with Congress and will take executive action this fall to support responsible AI innovation.

However, a notable moment arose when he momentarily struggled to recall the term “Covid” and instead referred to the ongoing pandemic as a ‘health crisis.’
When Joe Biden couldn’t recall the word “Covid,” he used the phrase “health crisis” to describe the outbreak.
Towards the end of his address, President Biden emphasized the urgency of reaching an agreement on the stopgap funding bill, warning that vital areas such as cancer research and food safety could be adversely affected in the event of a government shutdown.
Biden continued, saying, “If we have a government shutdown, a lot of vital work in science and health could be impacted – from cancer research, to food safety. So the American people need our Republican friends in the House of Representatives to do their job: fund the government.”
After his speech, the media shouted questions, and a bewildered Joe Biden looked around. His handlers soon swooped in and pushed the reporters out of the way.
One reporter asked if Biden thinks the government shutdown is inevitable at this point, and Biden murmured saying he does not think anything in politics is inevitable.
As a follow-up, he was asked again about what can be done to make sure it does not happen again, in which he answered and laughed, “If I knew that, I would have done it already.”
Biden just stood there motionless as his staff members shooed reporters away.
