Congress Passed a New Military Aid Package for Other Countries?!

It was passed by Congress that the United States will give more military help to Israel and Ukraine. The Aukus agreement will also get an extra $5 billion. The money from the Aukus deal will make sure that the US can easily build Virginia-class nuclear-powered submarines for Australia.

An extra $17 billion has been added to the budget plan for next year because Joe Biden talked about giving the U.S. submarine base more money over the next five years. Australia has said that they will directly give more than $4 billion to the project to make sure that the Aukus submarines can be delivered on time.

Defense Minister Richard Marles said, “The United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom are all investing a lot to build up our respective industrial capacity to make sure the success of AUKUS.”

This money for submarines is part of a larger bill for military aid in the Indo-Pacific area, which is meant to counteract Chinese influence. There is also a certain amount of money set aside just for Taiwan in the funding for the area. The US has asked others to help as well.

It would double the size of military loans, give more money to the military, and welcome “major non-NATO allies and the Indo-Pacific region.”

“It gives vital support to America’s partners—so they can defend themselves against threats to their sovereignty and to the lives and freedom of their citizens,” Biden said. Biden thanked Congress for passing the package.

He went on, “And it’s an investment in our own security, because when our allies are stronger—and I want to stress this again—we are stronger.”
